Mobile Bicycle Mechanic Bikeology offers a specialised service to customers anywhere within the Brisbane central region that require bicycle maintenance, custom wheel building and bike fits. Personalised service means you get what you want, not what somebody wants to sell you. Repairs are performed on leading suspension manufacturers Manitou, Rockshox, Marzocchi, Fox. Services are performed on all types of bikes including road bikes, cross country and downhill mountain bikes and triathlon time trial bikes. You want custom? Custom bike builds include Intense M3, Santa Cruz V10, Ironhorse factory World Cup, Bianchi, Issac, Colnago, Pinarello, Turner, Lynskey, Transition, Baum and Teschner road bikes. First Class MechanicOriginally from Scotland, Jimmy now is an Australian citizen. Jimmy has a wide range of experience in the bicycle industry and specializing in downhill, cross country, road and triathlon bicycles. Qualified in Automative EngineeringJimmy is a qualified Automotive Technician (Scottish Higher National Certificate in Automotive Engineering), working in a wide range of workshops, from council run double decker bus company, car manufacturers (VW, Toyota, Lexus, Holden) through to being manager/technician in a one man garage. Jimmy spent a couple of years in the Snowy Mountain Thredbo area as the sole NRMA roadside assistance mechanic. Bicycle Mechanic
Jimmy has been workshop manager and technician for a mountain bike company where he was responsible for workshop activities, ranging from vehicle repairs to full Downhill, freeride, BMX, Hybrid and Cross Country mountain bike fleet (60 bikes). He has been a mechanic for Gap Cycles, Cycleogical and Peloton cycles. Since then, several bike shops in Brisbane have contracted Jimmy to carry out specialist work for them, such as wheel building. He was the sole bike mechanic for a fleet of tricycles for Australia Post. Jimmy was mechanic for Downhill National Championships in 2006. He turned down the position as a race team mechanic for the Commencal Downhill MTB team due to his application for Australian citizenship. The position of race mechanic for the DH world Championship Yeti team was also offered to Jimmy, but the decision was made to be mechanic for the Smiling for Smiddy charity ride instead, as the events unfortunately fell on the same dates. Strong friendships have also been created throughout the Australian industry. Mountain Biking Jimmy is a qualified mountain bike instructor. He trained the Australian state bicycle police in off road skills. Bikeology has sponsored South East Queensland 4x Mountain Bike events, and sponsors Ben Power (Banshee Downhill MTB team rider) for race suspension work. Road Cycling Endorsed by Lance Armstrong Foundation LIVESTRONG - the Smiling for Smiddy ride is a 1600km eight day ride from Brisbane to Townsville to raise funds for cancer research in memory of Adam Smiddy. In 2008 Jimmy donated time to the cause by stripping and rebuilding 25 bikes from Trek and Lomond, and in 2009, 2010 and 2011 he was the road crew bike mechanic for 50 days riders for the entire eight days of the Smiddy Challenge, as well as the 3 day Midi-Smiddy Challenge. TriathlonWithin the triathlon circuit, Jimmy has helped triathletes of all types, juniors and adults, from sprint distance age groupers to Ironman Kona world championship competitors. Bikeology sponsors Vision Triathlon Club, and enjoyed helping them with their bikes and followed their progress as many of the athletes qualified for the World Championships in Beijing 2011. Bikeology Racing TeamBikeology now has Downhill and Cross country mountain bike teams. Members of the Bikeology Team are consistently on the podium at most of the races in South East Queensland.
